S3 Geography
If you choose to study Geography in S3, you've made a great choice! Not only is Geography recognised as a Social Subject, it's also classed as a science! Two for the price of one!
Geography is studied for 2 periods a week in S3.
You will study eight key topics, all within the context of The Americas.
In this unit you will cover:
1. Mapping and the countries of the Americas.
2. Climatic Regions of the Americas: Tundra, Hot Deserts, Mediterranean and the Rainforest.
3. Deforestation in the Americas.
4. Farming in the Americas: Shifting Cultivation and Commercial Arable.
5. Urban problems in the Americas: Rio de Janeiro.
6. Earthquakes and Volcanoes in the Americas.
7. Trade, Aid and International Influences in the Americas.
8. Mark Beaumont cycles the Americas: population, transport and climate change.
Activities will include presentation, research, movie making, volcano making (and exploding!), farming games, trading games and field trips.
